QuEnc 0.59b4 Nic please read.

I know the app is in beta right now but I thought I'd put in some info I noticed since using it.

first off. I love it. I love the dvd authoring no need to make a root menu and stuff first like with dvdlab. 2nd I absolutely love that it no longer crashes if used right. (Ill explain that one in a minute.)

I'll use Kill Bill as an example since it's what I've been encoding lately.

I used an avs file that had both my old Kill Bill avis as the sources, so,

AVISource(quot;D:\videos\kill bill v1.aviquot;) + AVISource(quot;D:\videos\kill bill v2.aviquot;)

[concerning the encoder part]
I used the DVD profile and left everything default, except I changed the bitrates to be at 1800. no variable bt and no 2nd pass or Trellis quant. just 1 pass.

the encoding speed is just awesome. takes about 1hr 30 minutes for this to encode completely. tmpg takes about 7 hrs on my machine with this same avs.

now i noticed that the first movie section of the mpg is perfectly encoded and no audio issues, the 2nd part of the mpeg ( the 2nd avisource) is a few milliseconds off synch with the audio. i did some other avi sources, small clips and noticed the same thing, after the first avisource, the following ones get desynched. of course if encoded one at a time, they work fine.

also, if the OUTPUT name is left whatever QuEnc makes it, then the resulting file is a .mpg, if however i change it to say like kbcomplete, the resulting file is a .m2v.
[concerning the DVD author tool]
I know this is still experimental but here's some things I noticed.
the tool has no option to open a .m2v file, you have to tell it ( typing in *.m2v, to recognize those files.)
also, I've only noticed it crashing if an mpg file that was merged with tmpg is used, for instance, as a second test I used QuEnc to encode Kill Bill v1 and v2 separately. and then used tmpg to merge them, after running the entire vob creation process, QuEnc crashes. 0kb vob file is created. an add button to add more mpgs would be useful. but please don't complicate it, the simplicity of this app is what keeps me using it almost daily.
*.m2v file works fine in the tool.
[applause]
I applaud you on an awesome job with this small and very powerfull encoder. Kill Bill clocks in at 4hrs 7 minutes. encoding it 1pass at 1800bitr made it 3.7gigs.   this looks VERY VERY good on a standalone dvd player. the flaws are noticeable on the computer screen, but on a television, you can't tell at all. now I can watch this movie in the living room instead of in my room with the pc or xbox.i haven't found a standalone that has any problem with this encoding yet.
