I had one final question regarding multi-pgc in Maestro. I was reading this thread as it seems to be a key piece in reauthoring multi-pgc DVDs.
I'm reauthroring Band of Brothers which has two episodes per disc. Curiously the second episode it first and the first episode last. If I'm interpreting the mentioned thread correctly, since it has 2 PGCs I will have one big one with all the chapters and two others PGCs. One for PGC1 which contains the second half of chapters corresponding to episode 1 and PCG2 which has the first half corresponsing to episode 2. When I compile the project I will only have the 2PGCs for the 2 episodes; am I on the right track here?
Hi Gradlock
Ive recently done the Band of Brothers PAL series as my first rips with the multi PGC maestro method - i followed the guide and it worked a treat due to doing other disks since i cant fully remember - i think there are 3 PGCs on each disk - one seems to be 12 secs
what i did:
-backup disk with smart rippper
-used ifoupdate to save the CCE amp; multiPGC maestro chapter files
-used dvd2avi on the main vobstream to make one long video for both episodes on the disk
-used avisynth script with CCE (also put cce chapter points in saved ECL file from ifoupdate created CCE film (NOT the film one because its a PAL disk))
-reencoded to fit on DVD5 disk
-import video and audio into in maestro
-import chapter list from ifoedit created file
-create required number of playlists as per ifoedit created readme and assign chapter points to correct playlists (i think there are 3 playlists per disk)
-compile title in maestro
-copy new vts_01_1 - vts_01_n files into a new directory along with backup files as per guide and use the MAESTRO MULTI PGC mode in ifouopdate to correct IFO information
If your still struggling after with it ask and ill check again what i did.
This method worked great for Band of Brothers but the last couple of disks i got dont work with it due to the way the audio is split across PGC's. For these I've started using Scenarist instead
I got an excellent word doc from somone on the forum about this maestro method which i followed if it'll help?

The NTSC version has two pgc's per disc. One for each episode. Created two playlists. One the first disc of five, the episodes are reversed. I just put episode 2 chapters in first play list and episode 1 in the second. I think there is one more where the episodes are reversed. Used most of Eraser method. Wound up with 2 pgc's when done.

Did this method work for you? I followed the guide, created 2 PGC's (NTSC version), reauthored in Maestro, reassembled with IFOUpdate. The disc plays in every software player I have, but gives disk errors in 4 different standalones that all usually play anything....
What is the way to find out what is wrong with my structure? Burned with Prassi, it didn't find any errors. Burned a second time with ingTool, no workie. I did a quot;Get VTS Sectorsquot; a second time to make sure they were updated, I'm bummed to not be able to make this work....
@ Eraser ....
I was planing on having a go at BB with Pal R2 ...which region are you at ??....and have you been able to solve the problems with that split auio...if you do could you please post a detailed explanation of how you have done it!!!
PS: Isn't that word document the guide that Jdobss wrote CHECK THIS OUT showthread.ph...Camp;pagenumber=2
.......if its not could you please let me kbow ..i would like to take a look at that word file???

I pointed first play to pgc 2. The copy works fine.
OK, I did not point the first play to anything.... I'll try that, re-author, re IFOUpdate, reburn, and see if that fixes it.Nope. Still no love. Can't figure it out... The settops don't like something about it, maybe I'll try same procedure on disk 2....
Thanks.

OK, my problem was not with the Maestro/IFOUpdate method, but rather with a corrupt VIDEO_TS.IFO file. I used the method, and it worked great for disks 1-5.
I am now on disk 6, 6 titles, 4 titles are multi-pgc, some are interlaced, some have up to 14 PGC's. I used the maestro method and reauthored titles 1-5, used the original from title 6.
I rebuilt it all, and it works in WinDVD, but not on the standalone. I probably corrupted the IFO somewhere along the line, so I'll try recreating the IFO's and rewriting the disks again and see what happens.
Has anyone else used the Maestro / IFOUpdate method on disk 6 of Band of Brothers yet? Any special tricks? I'll probably start a new thread with this one....

Disc 6 has a documentary shot in High Definition(1080i i think)that uses some of the same footage that were used on the episodes on discs 1-5 but converted to film on those.Has anyone been able to re-encode this documentary with CCE?I took a small part and tried every conceavable setting but there seem to be interlacing problems.
I converted Titles 1-5, but on titles 2, 3, and 4, I used decomb with FieldDeinterlace(Full=false). That took care of all the interlaced combing, but I still ended up with jumpy footage in Forced film.

I'm not sure if the ntsc version is the same as the pal version but VTS_01 has a mssive 28 pgcs !!!
Is there a quot;best methodquot; to approach so many pgcs in one swoop??
as to reauthoring subtitles etc?
On the NTSC version (reg_1) VTS_01 was only 1 PGC, but 02 had 13 PGC's, no subtitles (in english, anyway), and 03,04, and 05 each had between 3 and 12 PGC's.
If that's any help.
VTS_02 was the only one that gave me any problems and that was because of the overlap, chapters were used more than once by the multiple PGC's....

Any unlisted PGCs have been determined to be nulls (dummys)
and will remain intact in the original file.
This is the disk 6 analysis as i mentioned , i was advised to demux the whole video and audio streams as 1 stream using VobEDIT, and also did the same with the subs in subrip.
Not reauthored yet so will post an update once successfulHi folks, I'm currently working on this particular set of discs (NTSC region 1), starting with the first, and have a question. Sorry for bumping the old post.
If I'm reading correctly one or both of you managed to do this first disc with a single video stream in Maestro?
Reason being that when I attempt it here, there's no way that I can find to make the first chapter of playlist 1 start at anything other than 00:00:00:00.
This obviously can't work since the episodes are inverted in the video stream, chapter 1 for playlist 1 needs to start around the 52 minute mark.
No matter what I try Maestro adjusts playlist 1 to start at the beginning of the video stream, all zeroes.
Any way to do this without having to split the video stream into two and redo the entire thing?
**edit** nevermind, I answered my own question through a bit of trial and error. Maestro shows the chapter timing in each playlist relative to the playlist itself, not the entire stream. Everything works fine after all .**edit** |
