virtualdubmod won't direct stream copy
I ripped ALIEN using dvd decrypter and have 5 dvd files on my hard drive. The problem is that i can't tinker with the files in virtualdubmod choosing direct stream copy, i get an error message saying the streams are compressed in an unrecognisable algorith which is not compatible with avi files,so i have been fooling around with the files using fast compression mode which is slower than direct stream. Did i rip the dvd wrong in the first place or do i need to convert all of the files to AVI using fast compress. I dont mind doing this, i just like to know all of the alternatives. Any help would be appreciated.
I just thought. Is this were frameserving comes in?
You can't do that in VirtualDubMod (or any flavor of VirtualDub). You can convert the .VOB file(s) to Divx/Xvid and do direct stream copy on the resulting .AVI file(s).
Thanks for taking an interest. I didn't want to compress the film until i figured out what sort of quality i want but i have just looked at 8 mins of video in avi and its 15 gigs using fast compress, is this right or will i have to figure out how to frameserve? i am a proper neewbie. |
