spill drives for post processing subsequent, process, loaded, files

Hello everybody,
I'd need some help with this:
I use VirtualDub to capture old video tapes (codec: huffyuff) and the spill-drives-feature to limit the file sizes to 2 GB. And it works perfectly for the capture process -gt; I get ..00.avi, ..01.avi, ..02.avi etc.
Even when I try to post process the video and open the ..00.avi, all the subsequent files are loaded automatically. But when I've applied the filters and want to start the process by quot;Save to AVIquot; I get a huge SINGLE file, instead of another set of 2 GB parts. Why?
Can anyone help?
