Oversized using DIF4U/Scenaid/BatchCCEWS/Scenarist
Hi,
I'm trying to process a DVD9 disc (part of a tv series box) using the big 3 method: DIF4U/Scenaid/BatchCCEWS/Scenarist
It all works smooth, no errors at all, but when copying the original VIDEO_TS contents to the VIDEO_TS that scenarist created I get an oversized folder. The folder that scenarist made is 4.36GB, and when copying the original files from DIF4U to that folder it gets 4.47GB.
I have put the size in scenaid to quot;safequot;, but it seems pretty unsafe to me. I have looked here on the forums and read about unchecking quot;use orginal assetsquot;, but that is already unchecked on my pc. So what would make scenaid give an oversized DVD ?
I double checked my settings with the ones from the guide and they should be all ok.
The DVD is a DVD9 disc from a tv series, it has 6 audio tracks of which I only kept English (in DIF4U) and has 10 subtitels (I kept them all).
Thanks for any tips on this one!
It's probably your subtitles that cause the problem. It's been discussed here too: showthread.ph...658#post760658
You could try using safe-50 setting in scenaid or lower the video bitrates manually in batchccews.
Thanks I'll try the safe-50 setting to see if it fits then.
As pointed out above it['s better to set a slightly higher safety treshold. This might mean you will not use 50 Mb of your dvd size in some cases, but it won't affect the quality normally.
Myabe there are some unprocessed extras or menu items you can shrink a bit, so you won;t have to reencode stuff.
I usually keep all subs and have no problems at all (but I use a somewhat higher safety tresshold )
and the dye on the outer ring isn't always very good either, so for that it might be better as well.
Hi,
There are no extras that can be left out or be shrinked some more. I tried Safe-50 this time in scenaid but still the result is 4.4GB and thus oversized.
I can't set it lower (safe-50 is the lowest setting)
Would be great to see a feature that I can set the filesize myself.
Any ideas what else I could try (with keeping all the subs) ?
Are you using the dif4u or the scenaid bitrate settings? Because if you use the dif4u one's the scenaid setting is no good anyway.
You can always manually tweak the bitrate a bit of course to get it a bit smaller.
@Craz
I don't know if you thought about it, but you can change the bitrate in batchccews. Just doubleclick the job and change bitrate.
the huge amount of subs is doing it.. i have had only a few projects with 10 subs but usually they are bov and the extra sub tracks only had maybe 20 subs as opposed to the 10x1000 subs you have. i always use safe-50 but i think with that many subs you might want to take of an extra 50-100 mb.
an easy way to calculate the bitrate is to write down what main bitrate you get by 'safe' then write down the 'safe-50' main bitrate. the difference will be what you need to subtract from the safe-50 bitrate to lower the final size another 50 mb. or 2x that to get an even safer amt. (since you already know what safe-50 got you as a final project size, you know how much more headroom you need)
whatever you get, manually adjust the main bitrate the way salkku mentioned |
