X264 problem (qp_min should be lowered)
When I encode in current X264 (231) I often get the error (curve failed to converge).
It seems X264 fail when it gets on high compressability motion.
:S
it's no longer fatal, so you can continue to encode. So, it's only an informational message (at least that's what the change in r219 is supposed to be). Aren't you glad x264 tells you when you need to use a lower min qp to reach the target size? And I don't consider undersize due to codec saturation to be such a bad thing, it's better than write a bigger file that wouldn't look any different, isn't it?
By the way, this error will also ocurr if your stats file does not match the first pass.. for instance if it is empty.
I'm disapointed for two reasons, the error panel make VDUBMOD Gui unavaliable and I don't see any quot;min qpquot; param to set in the X264 VFW GUI.
So that message should better not appear.
Sergejack: If you wish, until it's all added to the VFW GUI, you could edit the source before compiling to have minimum qp as 1, but I'm slightly inclined to agree with Doom9, however, you would have to test for yourself whether you can tell the difference between sub 10 qps and qp 10. Some people may spot some artifacts on some material.
Yeah, in GK this causes VDubMod to stall and lock.
Yeah, if I could close this window clicking in the quot;OKquot; buton or in the quot;xquot; would be good... but the only way to get rid of that anoying window is by alt+F4 way...
Talking about errors in x264, would be good if it don't crash because diferent number of frames from one pass to another. Only show a error mensage, but not crash.
Simple and easy reply for all the questions: USE THE CLI+MeGUI.
If you are talking about the VfW error console popup. I added the option ages ago to set the log mode. If you set it to quot;nonequot; it should never pop up. Default settings is quot;errorquot;.
Oh... I never enter in this part of the GUI normaly... |
