Slight problems with Band of Brothers

I am trying to back up Band of Brothers (Region 4) DVD's and one glitch that is bothering me a bit. After backing up a particular DVD with Rebuilder, I proceed to run the files with PowerDVD. There are 2 episodes per DVD and everything seems to be fine for the first episode. However, on the second episode of the DVD, I can't seem to use the bar thing to move to a certain position of the video. When I click on a certain position on the bar, it just goes straight to the nearest chapter location. This does not happen on the first episode! I do not have a stand-alone DVD player so I cannot test whether it will work properly on one or not.

Can somebody give me an advice on how to fix this? Thanks.

You would have to check the original to see if it did not exhibit the same issue. being able to seek to times requires that a time table be present in the ifo. sometimes this is either not written at all(for no reason although a pro dvd should have a time map when applicable).... or if the pgc is not 'one_sequential_pgc' , the time table also isnt written. im sure dvd rb recreates the tables that were there in the original (adjusted of course) so its likely wasnt there in the original dvd...

if its in the original then its that way for a reason and putting a time map in would be illegal so unfortunately it would not be fixable

I've checked the original and this issue isn't present. What would happen if I were to put these DVD's in a stand-alone machine? Would I be able to fast forward and rewind?

missing time map/not one sequential setting only prevents random seeking, not fast foward/rev.

if you know how to use ifoedit at all.. you can try this. backup your final video_ts.ifo first. then load up the video_ts.ifo and look in the summary(comes up first).. note all the titles that have as many chapters as the tv show episodes. go into the vmg_ptt_srpt.. for any of the titles that were the episodes.. see if it says 'not one_sequential (random, shuffle, stills, loops, or more than one pgc)' if so.. edit the value 'Title_1: Title playback type' to be 64 (decimal) less than it is. that will change it to one sequential. do that for all of them, save the ifo, and try powerdvd again

I might be able to find something.

I've backed up the first 2 discs and both of them have the same problem. I've blanked out some stuff with VobBlanker and disabled a few menus with MenuEdit. After running these programs, I checked the files with PowerDVD and everything is still fine.

Trahald, please check the attachment.

The processed IFO is no different from the original one!

I'd suggest you try it without the processing and see if it make a difference.  Those are powerful programs and I can't predict what they might do.   It's very unlikely that the IFO is no different from the original if you've blanked VOBs and disabled menus.  Also, is this a full backup, movie only, or move and menus encode?

I'll do it again tonight as I've deleted the files to clear up some space on the hard drive. You wanted an IFO file, since there are only 2 (VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO), I guess you'd need the latter one.

send both... the one_sequential_pgc setting is in the video_ts.ifo and the TMAPTI is in the vts_01_0.ifo.

Here are the VTS_01_0.IFO files, if you're interested Trahald.

Before = Untouched
After = Processed with VobBlanker and MenuEdit
Final = Processed with DVD Rebuilder

the final TMAPTI table is there but wrong. at this point we'll have to see what it looks like w/out the pre processing.

You can see from the (Before) IFO file.

i meant if you go and process with dvd-rb directly off of the unprocessed original. and see what the result does in playback.

I'll try it tonight!

Apparently, that did the trick. Thanks for the suggestion.

I guess I'll be removing the unwanted stuff after processing with Rebuilder next time.
