How to make an index dvd for a collection? dvd, computer, collection, interface, actually

I'm basically ripping all my dvds as divx, then burning them so I have multiple files on a dvd.

I have done a webpage (template really) that pulls data from a database about each movie, and lets me choose one depending on anything, from title, to star, to genre etc - then tell me which disc it is actually on.

Very useful while the computer is on - but I want to be able to throw a dvd in the player, then go through the same sort of interface (I designed the web page for viewing on a tv screen with a remote).

Considering the amount of data, and how often it will change (I'm at 1000+ dvds already, but it takes time to encode) I want to find some sort of script/tool that can take a website (or anything along those lines, php I can handle) and generate a DVD menu style interface I can burn direct to a dvdrw...

I've tried various searches, both on here and google, and feel that I'm just not using the right terms as I've not had any luck - can anyone help?
