Petitioning for AviSynth support in commercial software
I'm sure I'm not the only one here who uses commercial software and would REALLY like to be able to easily use AviSynth files within it. Sure, there are workarounds like VFAPI and MakeAvis, but these methods are difficult to use, time consuming, and kludgy. It would be MUCH better to be able to import Avisynth files straight into the program.
How to get support into a commercial program though? A single person asking for it wont get much done. But if a LOT of people ask, then it will happen! I'm posting this on a couple different forums that I frequent, so its very possible that enough people will ask! But don't just think quot;other people will ask, so I dont need toquot;, we need EVERYONE's support!
This has a lot of rammifications besides simply getting support into one or 2 applications. If Avisynth support goes into a popular application, then the developers of competing software will want to add avisynth support as well. AviSynth is virtually unknown in the world of professional video. If people start to catch on to it, maybe a company would even put support behind it, and offer financial and developement resources to help impove avisynth.
But the first step is simply to ask commercial software developers to add AviSynth support to their programs. Here are two to get started:
If you want AviSynth support in After Effects, or any other Adobe software, you can ask for it right here: support/feature.html
If you want AviSynth support in Vegas, or any other software from Sony, you can ask for that right here: sup...suggestion.asp Do you use another commercial application that you would like to see AviSynth support in? If you can find a way to ask the developers for this feature, then simply post it here and we will help you out!
Be nicer if commercial software would support non-rgb colorspaces first. As for AE7, it barely supports normal avis, requiring splitting and cropping half the time. Good luck with a bugfree avisynth implementation. (As fatalist as I sound, it would be a great thing.)
quot;Avisynth supportquot; is simply normal (standard) AVIfile support, instead of direct file read.
I am sure, it is not quot;Avisynth developmentquot; topic.

Well, I wasn't sure which forum would be most appropriate to post it to. This one seemed good
