Hanging on quot;Analyzing Sourcequot; on 1 specific dvd

First, I love AutoGK.     I have used it to encode a half dozen DVD's before this problem, and 3 DVD's since this problem.  However, the problem remains on 1 specific disc.

[3/11/2006 3:46:20 PM] Started encoding.
[3/11/2006 3:46:20 PM] Demuxing and indexing.
[3/11/2006 3:49:27 PM] Processing file: C:\DVD_DISC2\VTS_01_1.VOB
[3/11/2006 3:49:27 PM] Processing file: C:\DVD_DISC2\VTS_01_2.VOB
[3/11/2006 3:49:27 PM] Processing file: C:\DVD_DISC2\VTS_01_3.VOB
[3/11/2006 3:49:27 PM] Processing file: C:\DVD_DISC2\VTS_01_4.VOB
[3/11/2006 3:49:27 PM] Processing file: C:\DVD_DISC2\VTS_01_5.VOB
[3/11/2006 3:49:27 PM] Source resolution: 720x480
[3/11/2006 3:49:27 PM] Found NTSC source.
[3/11/2006 3:49:27 PM] Source aspect ratio: 4:3
[3/11/2006 3:49:28 PM] Analyzing source.

And then, nothing for hours and hours.  On the suggestion of a friend in another forum, I am letting it continue to process for up to 36 hours (I always killed the session after about 8 to 16 hours, previously).

Note 1, there are no error messages.
Note 2, this is a 2 disc movie and disc 1 (same running time length) was encoded easily with AutoGK with the exact same settings.
Note 3, I changed the settings to less compression and greater filesize for the problem disc and encountered the same problem.
Note 4, I have attempted to encode it directly from the source disc.
Note 5, I used DVD shrink to first compress it to 4.3 Gbytes to my hard drive and attempt to encode it from the hard drive files... same problem.
Note 6, I have successfully encoded this problem disc using a different program, DivX to DVD Ripper, with no problem.

Settings used: Predefined size-700 Mb, fixed width 480, Codec-Xvid, Source length-2:19:11.

Maybe this simply comes down to a bad match between this disc and AutoGK.  But if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.  I am letting AutoGK continue to run this encode process through tommorrow morning, at which time it will be about 38 hours deep into it.

Thanks

It might help to know the specific title and region of the disk.  You may also want to Google your title along with quot;arccosquot; or quot;ripguardquot; or quot;psl2.quot;

I did the searches you suggested and found nothing.  There is no regional coding on the disc.  It's a movie called Fashionistas split between 2 discs.  I don't believe that disc protection is the problem here because the 1st disc was ripped and encoded fine.  The problem disc can also be ripped okay to my hard drive using DVD Shrink.

What happens when you try encoding from the hard drive rip?

Same thing... hangs on quot;analyzing sourcequot;... most recently for a consecutive 39 hours.  I have tried this in many different ways.  I would think that encoding it from the hard drive rip, which was compressed down to 4.3 GBytes by the way, would be so completely different than encoding it directly from the disc that it would have to yield a different result.  But no, same thing.

That's what makes me think it's not really the disc but either some bug in AutoGK or VirtualDubMod, or some setting on my hard drive associated with AutoGK that prevents it from fully encoding.

I have done a complete uninstall amp; re-install of AutoGK, which is relatively easy to do (to no effect), but I was wondering if there is some settings file or registries which aren't reset.

The one thing my original post fails to mention is that the very first time I tried to encode this disc I got an error further downstream... I believe in the compression phase.  But I deleted the log file.  :doh!:

Then for the 6 or 7 attempts since then I have always had it hang on quot;Analyzing Sourcequot;.  So that's why I'm wondering if some registry entry is seeing this as a previously failed encode process and decides to hang it up on quot;Analyzing Sourcequot;.

Self corrected upon upgrade to version 2.27.  Seems to be encoding fine now.
