CCE Getting hung up after the .vaf file during transcoding
I guess this is the place to address this issue even though I encountered it using DVD2SVCD considering that I do not have this problem with TMPGEnc. I am using the newest version of DVD2SVCD. I have noticed that when using Cinema Craft Encoder version 2.50 set to VBR it will sometimes hang after it creates the .vaf file while it starts to transcode. The processor usage is still 100% but nothing is happening. There is no information shown for any of the fields and it will hang forever until you close the program. I have tried several times to re-encode with the same result. If I change to CBR there is no problem.
Others have mentioned this too. One poster found that changing the bitrate settings in DVD2SVCD can get around this issue. I've always used the default bitrate settings but I decided to try this myself. After changing the MAX/MIN/AVERAGE settings, in this case to 1600 each I was able to get the encode to work. The only problem is I don't understand why this is happening, or if these new settings will work well for other encodes that hang in this way. Also this is not the ideal setting for bitrate. Is there a better setting that will still avoid the hanging problem? |
