I have encoded a video clip to put on my site at decoder system.

AFAIK, QuickTime Browser Plug-in can be configured to handle AVIs in the browser.
If the video isn't encoded with the MPEG-4 ASP profile in use, it should work like a charm.
That means no Quarter Pixel, GMC and b-frames.
I can never get the quicktime plugin to work with firefox though
