Extracting 5.1ch audio from xvid avi filter, only, compatible, channels, reports

I have an xvid avi that gspot reports as having ac3 5.1ch sound, but when I extract the audio in VDub in full processing mode, I only get 2.0ch sound. I have the latest ac3 filter installed and gspot reports 7 compatible codecs are installed for ac3 5.1 sound.

What else do I need to extract the 5.1 channels?

get VirtualDubMod...Load Xvid... Go to Streams tab...Select Stream List...A new box opens up...Select Demux... Save to location.
