Hi there, I recently copied VOBs I had which represented complete 26 min TV episodes, to create a new DVD, with the following advice I got from this board:
quot;Take your vob's, rename them VTS_01_001,VTS_01_002 and so on, then join them together with VobEdit. VobEdit will repackage your vob's in 0.99GB chunks that will fit the dvd standard. After this, open IfoEdit and click quot;Create Ifo'squot;. Open the first vob and save. 4 new ifo amp; bup files will be created, then click on get VTS sector, and get ALL IFO files. Now rename the folder to VIDEO_TS and see if your software player can play this(it should). Then you can burn it together with an empty AUDIO_TS folder.quot;
Everything seemed to run fine, chapters all worked ok, so I figured it was a good copy. However, when I played the DVD and tried to either go FF or Rewind, the picture seems to freeze and skip, and brings up images from other chapters...Anyway, when you let go of the FF button, it brings up a point on the DVD that is way off of where it was supposed to be. Does anyone know why this happened, and now that I no longer have the original VOBs, and instead have the 5 .VOBs created for the DVD standard, is there anyway to correct these errors so that FF and Rewind will work properly? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Carlos,
I've had the same problem and Derrow pointed out to me that even though you've created new IFO files, you still need to rebuild/strip the VOBs. Why? Apparently the pointers are all messed up - that's why you can't fast forward.
After you've joined the files (with VOBEdit), created the IFO's, Go through a round of quot;VOB Extrasquot; and create and updated set of VOBs and IFOs. Works for me everytime!
Thanks so much Padre! You don't know how long I've had these DVDs and while I could watch them perfectly, and even choose chapters, I could NOT FF or rewind, because I would lose my spot on the DVD and it would take forever to find where I was on the disc. I just did as you told me, and tried running the files on my computer with WINDVD, they now play pefectly with FF and rewind acting as it's supposed to. Thanks again to you and to Derrow! I now have about 10 discs I was going to scrap that I will simply be re-burning...Joy in mudville!

I know how ya feel! I was stumped, figured I screwed something up. Derrow said it was a common problem.
Glad I could help. |
