recording done right

No matter which application I use to record or which format I record or which playback engine I use, the timestamps are most of the time broke meaning let's say the recording is 2 hours but it appears as 30 minutes in the player. I assume that this is a general problem that all SS2 users have, it's something I really struggle with for a very long time because most of the content I record requires me to skip a lot but that's impossible when navigation is broke. I have no time to work (program) on this myself so I really need help. Maybe recording with Microsoft's stream buffer engine would work which MediaPortal uses. Microsoft products work most of the time but it's a problem for me since the latest MediaPortal crashes while trying to make a channelscan. It's also unclear how reliable the MS format can be demuxed. I wonder if Elecards MPEG2 muxer can be utilized to record as mpg and how reliable it would work. Creating a mpg file with PVAStrumento doesn't work either on many files.

Do you mean live streaming recording?
I use P2.8A, 512M, DVB-T card.
After demux, I try to use MainConcept multiplexer to remux video and audio together, and then to file writer. But the recorded file is weird. Audio is ok, Video is lost too much.
Don't know if it is multiplexer's probelm. Maybe it cannot keep up the speed.

My advice to SS2 card users: stick to SkyView program.

Search also Doom9 Forum for SkyView, I presented here many pictures also.

SkyAVC which powers SkyView records best mpg's I found out meanwhile. I recommend SkyView as well and also ProgDVB, DVBPortal (uses SkyAVC) and DVBViewer. I really want to get my own application into a state where I don't need other applications but doing such a application is not exactly easy and nobody willing to share his sources doesn't help either.

To keep original broadcaster time stamps the best is to record as .ts streams.

But there isn't a method for playback ts file that give most of the time a proper overall length. This means even simple things like jump back a few seconds in a file are impossible which is not acceptable for the content I'm recording and the way I want to watch it. I've tested all ts playback methods.

When recording to .ts don't forget to record all necessery pids like PAT and /see TSWriter in SkyView/, for playback use VLC - then you can switch between audios, programs ...
