DVD-RB 0.93 (Free) Alien3 problem
Hi,
I'm trying to back up Alien 3 (2003) Special Edition (PAL). DVD-RB reports multi-angle and/or interleaving. The disc contains the Special Edition and the Theatrical one.
I use DVD-RB + CCE 2.67 set to some extra passes, the problem is that some scenes/chapters get WAY too low bitrate.. 500kbit (just blocks) and other scenes (probably those belonging to the theatrical release) are fine.
I DON'T have quot;steal extra space from extrasquot; or anything like that enabled, cause that was my first thought.
The other discs in the 2003 special edition box have i backed up without any problems.
Any suggestions?
Hmmm..what is the bitrate Rebuilder says for the video (shown as output in Prepare step)? I think that it's verly low and the compression ratio around 20%.
As far as i know this problem will be fixed in 1.0, so let's just wait

The problem with Alien 3 and the freeware version is that ILVU sections are kept intact. In Alien 3 there is an ILVU section that is almost 1.5GB long (for video). That section alone takes up almost half of the available disc space.
Okej,
If i understand this right this problem will be solved in the 1.00 version or perhaps if i donate and get the pro RC2 version? is that right?
/Thanks
btw this is the status output:
-----------------
[13:07:53] Phase I, PREPARATION started.
- CCE SP 2.67.0.27 encoder selected.
- VTS_01: 3 194 888 sectors.
-- ANGLE and/or INTERLEAVING is present.
-- Scanning and writing .D2V file
-- Processed 277 250 frames.
-- Building .AVS and .ECL files
- Reduction Level for DVD-5: ,3%
- Overall Bitrate : 500Kbs
- Space for Video : 6 292KB
- HIGH/LOW/TYPICAL Bitrates: 500/500/500 Kbs
[13:13:36] Phase I, PREPARATION completed in 6 minutes.
The freeware version will never include ILVU encoding, so that problem will still be there in Freeware v1.00. The professional edition would be your only choice.
I will always keep the freeware version current. But there will be no new (significant) features added, only bugfixes etc. There has to be some incentive to get the Pro Version -- I'm not greedy, but I'd like to get at least a little return on the the considerable time investment I've put into this project...

Quite right to, all the hard work and effort in making this software what it is today deserves dontaions, for me DVD-RB is an awesome tool and it is my favourite for DVD backups, the DVD muxing alone is worth the money.
My advice to you Kefir is Donate, I promise you it's worth every penny and you won't be disappointed.
Oh, i didn't know that. So sitting, waiting, wishin is no use this time ?
Jdobbs, I absolutely agree with you. You've put a lot of work in this software, so there should be some benefit in it for you. What you do is really OK, you really do not have to justify for it.
