Making it Region 0 in Maestro

In Maestro, if I want to have no region code, do I check every region in the Properties tab, or UNCHECK every region??

I checked them all, and when I burnt them to a DVD-RW and tried to play it in PowerDVD, it would open that Region Code change screen, and I'd press OK, and it'd pop up again.  Pressing cancel and it would pop up again.  I closed it and then nothing would happen.

On my standalone it played though, but I don't know if that's because it's region free it had no problems.

If I uncheck them ALL, I get that error that it will make the disc have problems.

It says
quot;! Warning! No region selected! This will result in a disc that will not play properly!quot;

Well...?

how about setting it to the region you are in, then making it region free in IFOedit?

there is no such thing as region 0. it was created cause a lot of players that let you select the region used the region 0 to indicate that the player isnt locked to any particular region, where it was really choosing all the regions (at least the first 6).

having said that, keep in mind that region 7 is reserved and region 8 is in flight entertainment, and all the lower end authoring applications leave those two out when creating 'region free discs'.

I'm still a little confused.

I can't make it region free after compiling, because I compile to an ing file and burn that.  I don't think INFOedit can crack into there.

Should I uncheck everything, or check everything?

I tried both ways (in Maestro) then after burning to DVD-RW, my WinDVD gives me the region changing screen, and no matter what I choose, 'OK' or 'Cancel' it won't play.

What should I do to make it so it doesn't have a region coding, or will play on all DVD players(if I'm stating something that doesn't exist again)

i'm guessing that you would have to check the boxes of each region you wanted, but if that isn't working don't compile to an image file, just compile to the vob files. After making the VIDEO_TS.IFO region free with IFOedit, you can still create an image with ingtool

there are 8 regions available on DVD, #7 has something to do with DVD-Audio, and #8 is for 'in flight entertainment', the other 6 are regions that are physically mapped to the earth.

a player is normally set to play only one region, eg 4, and discs can have any number of regions enabled, commonly 2 and 4 in r4 areas.

if you put a r1 disc in, the player only checks the r4 flag, sees its disabled, then displays the error, if you put a disc into the player that has the 6 regions selected (region free disc, or world region disc), it will play, cause the r4 region is enabled.

a region free player means that it will check all 6 regions, if they are all disabled on the disc, then it displays an error, this will only happen with discs encoded for r8 actually I tried both ways (in Maestro) then after burning to DVD-RW, my WinDVD gives me the region changing screen, and no matter what I choose, 'OK' or 'Cancel' it won't play.

to create a disc image, you have to create it from a 'compiled video_ts directory' which is something that ifoedit can 'hack into'

btw, heres which regions maestro selects by default for a new project: sportschook/?regions.jpg
