What do yo have to do to get working chapters with original menu???
I am tearing my hair out over this. Been trying to do for almost two weeks.
This is the situation:-
1.I have the original menu.
2.I have re-encoded the movie vobs.
When I test it using Ifoedit dvd player the menu works fine and the movie plays fine too.
When I go to scene selection thats when problems start, if I select a chapter the movie plays for 1 second and then locks up.
If I jump straight to the movie and try selecting chapters then the same thing happens.
Can anyone solve this pain in the ass problem.

I don't know if this will solve your problem, but I came across these lines in the guide called quot; DVD-9 to DVD-5 quot;Full Copyquot; Instructionsquot; : quot; After you have copied over the files, you will want to use the IFOUpdate utility. Next to IFOEdit, this tool is the best thing since sliced bread! Thanks Jdobbs! Using it is very straightforward. Enter the full path (including filename) to the original movie IFO, the newly authored IFO (that was created my Maestro), and a location and filename for the backup. Click the “Update IFO” button to update. This corrects all pointers in the IFO such that your chapters now line up correctly with your scene selection menu!
Maybe it's worth having a look at this guide and the IFOUpdate tool...

Fanx m8, I have now solved my problem. Followed trilight's guide, but there is a point to note and thats when you use Ifoupdate, use Cell mode only and not the standard mode.
Also use Ifoedit to change the number of chapters and cells to match your newly created .ifo's from maestro otherwise it won't update it.

Just got a question about your process. Your original movie was too big to fit on a dvd-r so you re-encoded the video stream to a smaller size but left the original menu vob's alone. Then you used your audio and video stream in maestro and compiled the project to generate new vob's and ifo files. Now you want to use the original menu with the re-encoded vob's?
I thought once you re-encode a video stream (CCE) that you have to use a authoring guide because it was impossible to use the original menu.
Also how do u use Ifoedit to change the number of chapters and cells to match your newly created .ifo's ?
To change chapters and cell count open up Ifoedit and load in the .ifo associated with your original movie vobs. Enter the VTS_PGCITI and enter VTS_PGC_1, click on the NUMBER OF PROGRAMS and NUMBER OF CELLS change these to the same as the .ifo that maestro created. Then use Ifoupdate in cell mode. It worked for me ok, tried on Snatch, Lord of the rings and Ghostbusters.

I have a similar problem but have done everything that has been suggested in this thread. I advance to a chapter and it plays for about 5 seconds then freezes. If I scan forward (or back) it freezes. The movie plays fine if I dont scan or advance to any chapters. I can pause with no problems... any suggestions?
I followed this process, it works great, except that I think there was something a little off in my original IFO File as the chapter select menu works fine until I get to chapter 21. It skips chapter 21 and plays 22, 22 plays 23 and so on. Is there any way to go in and manually place these chapter points. I have attempted to re-try processing in IFO Update with the same results, even with bringing in new IFO's to work with.
