Ac3 sound choppy amp; video to slow software, programs, reading, problem

All the video I rip is a vob with ac3 audio. Virtualdubmpeg and virtualdubmod play the video but the sound is choppy and video slow. I have spent countless hours reading, trying programs, installing and uninstalling codec and still have this problem. I want to beable to cut video and audio out of movies. Need to see and hear it correctly. Anyone have any sugestion Thanks

Might use software to demux streams, decode ac3 to wav, amp; cut/edit in V/Dub, encoding to whatever.

Or Recode or Shrink at 100% qual. to create DVD layout of sections you want, optionally demuxing out mpg2 amp; ac3 and working on those.
