Mplayer amp; MKV Subtitles off by default default, believe, because, however, display

Does anyone know how to force subs off by default in Mplayer when playing MKV files?

Other players such as VideoLAN do not display the subs by default however  Mplayer seems to always turn the subs on by default.

I have tried graphical and closed caption subs.
Placing them outside or inside the MKV file makes no difference.

Or does anyone know where there is a dedicated forum for Mplayer because I believe this is definitely a Mplayer related issue.

From mplayer's manpage (which is where almost every option can be found):

#8722;noautosub : Turns off automatic subtitle file loading.
