Am i doing everything right here?
This is how I back up my dvd's. It seems to be working for me but I want to make sure I am doing everything right before I back up a lot of my discs. Please tell me if I am doing anything wrong or if I am forgetting anything.
1. rip the dvd using dvddecrypter.
2. used dvd2one and compress the file to 4.36 gigs. Put the files in a folder called VIDEO_TS.
3. Then I use recordnow max 4.1 and I burn the VIDEO_TS folder as a DATA disc. (I don't put an empty AUDIO_TS folder in there, do I need to?)
When it's finished dvddecrypter says it's region 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Does this mean it's region free?
Any help or suggestions are welcome to make my dvd compatible with most dvd players.
I do your step 1 , 2 but for step 3 I use Nero 5.5.9.17.
Select DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO), put in my VIDEO_TS folder with DVD2One's just ripped files. Put in empty AUDIO_TS folder. Burn.
Always perfect.
The disc is region free.
Might want to upgrade to RecordNow Max 4.5.
Don't use Nero. RecordNow Max is much better and more compliant.
BTW 5.5.9.17 is a few versions old now and the newest seems to solve some DVD compatability issues.
Whether you NEED the AUDIO_TS is debatable, but it is in the DVD spec. I always add it, but many don't.
