Autogk development ceased?
It is bad to hear that Autogk development ceased with stable v2.2. I just start to rely on that software for Xvid. Does len0x switch to develop encoder for x264? Is the historical mission of Xvid really ended?
Yes, and it is a sad day. I kinda had the feeling that the DAE episode would have something to do with it. Now where are all those stupid newbies who screamed bloody death about DAE? Thank You len0x once again for this wonderful tool.
May be too sensitive about ad. Bitcomet contains some ad now, but it is still popular, even dominate. If autogk declare DAE explicitely at the beginning, resistence may not be so high.
even if DAE story played its role you only know half the story, so I would not start speculating about it now...
len0x, are you going to work on x264 encoder? Or some other software? As a man who can create those good software as Gk and Autogk, I believe you have another breaking new plan of software. When will you leave us an insight of what is the next thing?
Do I have a plan? I have lots of plans Unfortunately no time to implement them (unless some big fat investor reads this and wishes to support some cool large scale community project )
How about a group of investors?
How about something like jdobbs did with DVDRB? (Free version vs a PRO version)..charge a small amount and get added features?
len0x, I do not suppose there was ever a plan to implement x264 for the great, quot;1-clickquot; solution that auto-Gk came out to be?
As for the BitComet comment, *edit* search for much better alternatives out there. There is one that does not have bloat, and more importantly, zero ad-aware.
I do not think that in this thread you can quot;advertisequot; an app thats aimed for downloading stuff. Nothing to do with this topic whatsoever.
Unfortunately, if you read the post about the user talking about some ads in Bitcomet, you might be able to comprehend. A lean (read: less bloat is better) program will always reign over a big, bloaty program (which now, oddly enough, even has ads apparently).
Think, then speak. Not the other way around, please.

Please follow forum rule 4. It's OK to address someone's points, but ad hominems are not tolerated. Thank you.

Had read it, had thought about it and posted my opinion, have thought about it again, still do not know what a link to a small file sharing app has anything to do with AGK. have a nice day
When I started the sentence quot;As for the BitComet commentquot;, what did you think I was talking about?
1). BitComet?
or
2). Auto-GK...
Hint: The answer is written right in the sentence.
And before you even chime in yet again with your quot;well what does that have to do with xyzquot;; I clearly made two points in my post. One was asking about x.264 (which I hope appeases you, seeing as it is about Auto-GK), and the other for telling someone about how, inevitably, bloaty and ad-ridden software goes into the dark once a better alternative surfaces...
No offense, but the only posts that have had nothing to do with Auto-Gk, thus far, have been yours pertaining to mine. Define irony!
P.S. Sorry, neuron2, I guess I've been lurking way too much on these forums since my join date to even realize that was not allowed. I'll edit it.

I don't have time to do small stuff. I would only be interested in doing large scale project and having several developers full time on it...
Well, I suppose the forum has to be closed in that case. What is the case with GordianKnot, is it development also stopped?

Why? AutoGK won't stop working just because further versions will not appear. Nor will people stop using it for that reason. Forums should die only when the tool falls into disuse.

I could not have said it any better
Is it still useful to post possible issues with AGK 2.20 ?
quot;I might still do some updatesquot; Len0x states, does it apply to eventual bugfixes?

Actually, I took this to mean the Development subforum, and in that context it makes some sense. Why tantalize anyone w/future AGK updates/enhancements if none are forthcoming?
But no doubt this area includes Gordian Knot, which is a different animal.
Maybe the quot;(Auto)quot; could be removed from the title.

it is for two reasons:- they might eventually get fixed- it is helpful for other users to know about the problems and workarounds |
