having read about how good procoder is I thought I'd give it a try.
I'm now looking at a message which says EClPro v0.42 beta - Error
unsupported Procoder version.
I'm using DVD Rebuilder Pro 1.02 and thought Procoder was available via the encoder folder ?
Do I need to buy/install anthing else ?
You will have to buy Procoder Express @ about $50.00us dollars (about the same as CCE Basic) or Procoder 2.0 @ about $500.00us dollars.
Regards,
Thanks - I did buy cce basic but then found that I prefered HC.
I was just about to buy express and then read it had to activated - One more thing to go wrong - I think I'll give it a miss.
The following is in the readme-legacy .txt in the encoder folder pf RB.
quot;BACKGROUND
Canopus ProCoder (in various versions) is one of the best encoders available in the market. One major drawback is the proprietary format of the file used to save the projects, which makes difficult (or impossible) to integrate it with other tools. On the other side, CCE with .ecl (a plain text) is widely used from all the DVD encoding tools.
I don't want to start a debate if ProCoder is better or not then CCE: many users find it's quality very good, and use it! And, for interlaced sources, probably it's better then any other competitorquot;.
I tried CCE Basic trial but I prefer HC.
I would like to try Procoder express on a trial basis but I don't know if you get the results people are talking about with the Express version.
I think they are using Procoder 1.5 or 2.0.
Regards,
P.S. Get any Bear lately?

Supposedly, both Procoder Express and Procoder 2.0 have the same engine, but Express cannot do the Mastering Quality. The interface also differs so you have to use the legacy mode with Express. Procoder Express has the authentication to allow it to run while Procoder 2.0 has the USB Hasp key.
If you want to try out ProCoder then using the latest version of ECLPro (v.52) you can use the version of ProCoder Express that comes with the Edius Pro 3 trial download on the Canopus website. You will have to register at the site to reach to access the trial downloads. Canopus does not offer a ProCoder trial download on it's own.
Once you install the download start Edius to begin the 30 day trial period, otherwise ProCoder Exp will not work.
Thanks for the info. wmansir.
However, as you and Harrysmiith pointed out one has to register. I have no problem with that for a trial download (tried Ulead VideoStudio9 trial before I bought, among others) but the required fields to fill out include my physical home address (Are they that paranoid of cracks). I do not understand why they would need this info. and since FredThompson has indicated his fondness of Hank's encoder being about equal to Procoder I think I will stick to HC.
Besides I think FredThompson is using the Procoder 1.5 or 2.0 version and not the Express version which is what I would be buying if I liked it. I have no intention of spending $500.00 on an encoder that may or may not give marginal results over HC which is free.
Thanks again and Best Regards,

my concern was about activating. I have a series of Business machines with programs that require activation. Once set up I take system images and can then easily restore my system.
with my DVD machine I find that hardware and software cahnges so fast that I resinstall about once a month. Am currently doing just that.
I like the idea that DVD Rebuilder Pro will be a clean install and that other programs that I had tested and discarded will no longer be present.
If Procoder Express has no problem with being activated every few weeks then I could still use it. |
