Problems with vdub and DivX file
Hi,
I've got a DivX file with both Spanish and English languages on. It defaults to Spanish and I would like to remove this or somehow change the default to English. I'm assuming I could do this with vdub by seperating the audio streams from the video and then joining the English one back again (correct me if I'm wrong on this), but I'm having problems with vdub. I can load the file and have managed to demux the English language stream to a seperate file, but the video is not visible in vdub. The file plays Ok in Media Player and Nero Showtime but nothing shows in vdub. I'm not an expert with vdub but have some experience with it. If I do a 'scan video stream for errors' I get the following: 0 frames masked (0 frames bad, 0 frames good but undecodable). Anyone got any ideas please?
John
Hello, and welcome to the forum.
Dealing with multiple soundtracks may be a little easier using VdubMod rather than Vdub. In brief:Open the .avi
Set Video...Direct Stream Copy
Open the list of audio streams: Streams...Streams List
Select the stream you DON'T want in your new .avi
Press the Disable button'
Close the Streams List window
Save a new .avi file.

Thanks jggimi.
I didn't make myself clear, I was using VdubMod not vdub. I thought I'd done the things you suggested but obviously not. Following your instructions step-by-step the file I save works perfectly - thanks a lot!
I still can't understand why the video is not showing in VdubMod though. Anything else I've ever loaded has displayed OK and as far as I know, I have the necessary codecs installed.
John.
Perhaps you have only the DirectShow decoder for the video installed, and not the Video For Windows decoder?
Hi DigitAl56K,
How can I check if that is the case?
