Creating DVD From Single VOB
I like to store all my DVDs as a single VOB since that is the format that is best handled by my hardware media player.
To do this I use DVDShrink and I always end up with a lt;4Gb single VOB that plays fine.
However, for one of these VOBs I need to put it on DVD. I know that DVD vobs should have a maximum size of 1Gb so I used WinRAR to split my 4Gb VOB into 4 1Gb VOBs.
I then renamed them to VTS_01_1.vob to VTS_01_4.vob. Each vob file seems to play just fine in PowerDVD.
I then used IFOEdit to recreate the other files and I ended up with a single folder contaning the 4 VOB files mentioned above and also VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO,VTS_01_0.BUP and VTS_01_0.IFO.
The if I try and import this into NeroRecode or DVDShrink to create my DVD I am given the following errors respectively:
quot;An unknown error occurred while checking validity of DVD structures (VTS)quot;
and
quot;Invalid data in file quot;D:\..\VTS_01_1.VOBquot;
Does anone have any ideas what I may be doing wrong? I'm not sure what to do next!
Thanks!
Hi!To do this I use DVDShrink and I always end up with a lt;4Gb single VOB that plays fine.
When you did this, DVD Shrink created a full DVD quot;packagequot;, including .IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs.
So, if you now want to convert to DVD-compliant .VOB size, you could:
1) Load the DVD quot;packagequot; back into DVD Shrink and simply set DVD Shrink's .VOB size to 1Gb (Also set to quot;No compressionquot;)
OR
2) Load the DVD quot;packagequot; into SmartRipper and set its .VOB size to 1Gb - and select quot;Backupquot;
Try reversing the steps.
Use IfoEdit to create the IFOs and then use DVD Shrink in its normal mode to make a new DVD with VOBs lt; 1Gb.
Should work.

I didn't keep any of the original quot;packagequot; files other then the VOB so I can't really do that.

Yup, that works fine, thanks!

What's the reason you didn't simply make a full backup of your original, purchased commercial DVD?
