this is what im asking about
W 15:27:26 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files gt; 4 GB
The part I don't understand is the way you constantly open new threads with the same or similar question. You just posted one yesterday about the same problem, but you didn't mention that you were trying to change it to PIO, you just said you were trying to remove it. Did you remove it and it reverted back to PIO? If so, you should have asked an updated question in the same thread - instead we get the impression that you're ignoring the other advice.
Your question and what you're asking about at the end are not related - PIO mode is related to DVD-RW problems, whereas having a drive that does not support single files greater than 4GB means it needs to be formatted to NTFS. To fix that, you need to empty it of any data you wish to keep, right-click it under My Computer and select Format and select NTFS.
To check PIO mode, right-click My Computer and select Manage, click Device Manager and expand (double-click) IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. As I said in your other post, you will See Primary and Secondary IDE Controllers. Double-click one and click the Advanced Settings tab to see if the drives are in PIO mode.
Whether this does or doesn't fix your problems, kindly come back here and post an update. It might also be helpful if you'd describe your problem and post any error messages you're receiving.
having a drive that does not support single files greater than 4GB means it needs to be formatted to NTFS.
Or you can just leave it as is and, if you're using DVD Decrypter to create individual (.ISO) files that would normally exceed 4Gb, DVD Decrypter will automatically split the file into several pieces and create an additional quot;.MDSquot; file (Contains information about how to re-join the pieces, among other things) that you can select in order to properly burn those file pieces to a DVD...
thanx, i figured it out and now i have a new question. i was checking a few things and i came acrossed something. Is my dvd burner supposed to be on my primary ide channel or my secondary ide channel, because its on my secondary ide channel. i was trying some things out and i disables my secondary ide channel and i noticed it also disabled my dvd/cd drive so i enabled it again. does anyone know if its ok to have it in my secondary ide channel or should it be in my primary ide channel, thanx
The primary or secondary channel is where the drive is plugged in. It doesn't matter where it is as long as the jumpers are set correctly (or set to cable select).
I'm asking once more, and this is the last time I'll help you if you don't respond: what exactly is the problem you are having?
look im trying to find out what the problem is but everytime i ask something u have a problem with it so u know what, DONT HELP. my god im still learning and trying to figure this stuff out myself but sometimes i have to ask questions so do me a favor and dont bother to help me
does anyone know if its ok to have it in my secondary ide channel or should it be in my primary ide channel
If it works properly, then the setup is okay ;gt;}

Believe it or not, I'm trying to help, but in order to provide effective assistance I would need to know what the problem is. What you don't seem to understand is that when you ignore help or delete entire threads and start over, it's the same as if you went up to someone and asked them a question and then turned and walked away when they tried to answer.

another way is to open a command prompt and do
convert x: /fs:ntfs (x being the drive in question) that way it will convert the drive without you having to remove the contents

Are you sure about that? Windows does not by default create a partition and back up files, nor is it possible (as far as I know) to have a FAT32 partition on an NTFS-formatted hard drive. Viewing that D: is noted as FAT32 and C: is not mentioned, I can only assume there are two independent hard drives.

Its a back up of my Windows XP operating system - this was predone on my PC when I purchased it. For me it is the same harddrive just partitioned.
Below is my log when starting DDecrypt
I 08:15:47 DVD Decrypter Version 3.5.4.0 started!
I 08:15:47 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2)
W 08:15:47 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files gt; 4 GB
I 08:15:47 Initialising SPTI...
I 08:15:47 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...
I 08:15:47 Found 1 DVD-ROM, 1 DVD+RW and 1 DVD-RAM/±RW!
I have seen this when you purchase a upgrade to move up to XP. Your old system was FAT32 the upgrade will not change this only buying the full install of XP will.
using the convert command as carpo said will make the partition NTFS without the need to backup data.... |
