Ripping series dvd into one vob
I'm exploring some of the network connected devices that will play DVD's stored on PC's, but for the most part they require a single vob. I've seen some posts about ripping these disks using smartripper or DVD Decrypter into one VOB file. I've messed around with this a bit, but quot;one vobquot; always ends up being the main movie or the first episode or loss of DVD navigation.
Question:
Is there a way to rip a series (like the west wing, multiple episodes on one disk) DVD (multiple vts sections) into one vob and mainain DVD navigation (menu's)? If so, how?
Regards,
Roveer
All you need is to rip it in ISO mode in one file, then you can use DaemonTools or Nero ImageDrive to mount it from any computer on the network.
Sounds reasonable except the devices that will access these movies won't be computers, rather devices like an xbox 360 or a Linkplayer or a Tvix HD 5000 U. They won't have that capability.

The DVD ISO spec was never created to allow one single vob, it must follow a guide line. So you have a few options... separate the vobs by episodes and name the vobs to the eps so then you play them from you xbox (or whatever it may be) just like regular media files. No menus, no chapters.. but who cares. Secondly you can do like what CWR03 said, rip to a single iso, and load into daemon tools then access that virutal drive (its got a drive letter so it can be accessed from the network like anything else) from your networked device. Third option is to stream the media from a software side using something like VLC. There are some xbox apps that support that, not sure about 360 yet but its worth a look in some instances.
A VOB doesn't have the ability of menus - it's just a video file. You could create files with chapters instead. |
