Sony HDR-HC1: A Quantum Leap For Video Buffs (p. 12): Lost Connection: DivX 6.1 Only Supports 1280 ResolutionI was disappointed to say the least that such a respected authority as Mr. Volkel of Tom's Hardware Guide would not investigate further by calling DivX Networks or even clicking on the advanced button and selecting Unconstrained Profile.

This article is as of today the top front-page article on this very popular hardware review site, which is probably frequented by tens of thousands of people a day:



I would not worry about it... the article appears to be quite floored.

I would recommend people disregard it altogether!EDIT: Personally speaking, I would not recommend anyone rush out and buy a Sony HDR-HC1 (A Quantum Leap For Video Buffs) camcorder either.... If you want to go hi-def, wait until HDD and/or solid-state camcorders become more prevalent.... Tape is on the way out  Cheers
