upgrading encoder question?
I am running 1.3 RB pro. Before installing 1.3, I purchased and installed CCE basic and Procoder Express. So far so good....seemed like CCE basic has preformed well. I am sorry I didnt do my homework before buying Procoder Express, as I have now found out it is not recommended with RB. Today, I found a deal and purchased a new copy of Procoder 2.0 and I want to be sure I install everything in order correctly again as before. So here is my questions.
Do I need to uninstall Procoder Express? Do I need to uninstall RB then install CCE basic and Procoder 2 before I reinstall RB? I still have an upgrade to 1.4 to accept, so could I just install Procoder 2.0 then do the update? Sorry to ask these questions, just want to do the right things in the correct order to avoid a mess..... Also, if I want to move up CCE SP I assume I would be asking the same questions as above, so any help and advice would be appreciated for present and future needs. So far RB Pro and CCE basic are doing a great job, but now I am backing up some 7.5 - 7.9's that are pushing the limits of CCE basic.
I imagine the Procoder 2 install will let you know if you have to uninstall Express. I have Procoder 2 installed and I installed the Edius Pro trial which includes a copy of Procoder Express and they both worked fine.
You will of course have to set up the new Procoder, but all that should involve is pointing EclPro to the new version. Just delete the EclPro.ini file and run EclPro.exe to set it up again.
CCE is able to have multiple versions installed, but again you have to set up DVD RB. If you are using EclCCE then do it the same way you did EclPro. If you are linking to the program directly from DVD-RB you will have to make the changes there.
Upgrading DVD-RB is easy, just overwrite the executable with the latest version, for the Pro versions you will also need the RBK key file that came with the latest release. Also, it 1.03 and 1.04, not 1.3 etc.
Thanks for the help and insight. The help and information provided here is invaluable!
Before you spend more money have you tried HC realease 016 ?
Ibought CCE basic to start with but no longer use it. Unless there is a particular problem I now just stick with HC 16 best and the default options for movie only.
Thanks for the info, I got quite a deal on the Procoder 2, that is why I purchased it. I will try the HC 16 and let you know what I think. |
