Problem ripping with DVD Decrypter

I have a program I recorded from TV with my DVD Recorder and can't seem to rip it to my Hard Drive with DVD Decrypter. The recorder is a Philips DVDR 75. It plays fine in the Recorder but when I try to rip it I end up with the following message(s) after about 46 minutes of the 64 minutes have been ripped. Trying to play it with PowerDVD it locks up at 46:40. I've done this many times before with no problems. Can anyone tell me what this means and what to do about it?
I tried DVD Shrink and it won't open it either. I get this error message:

Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Can you just not copy the files since there is no copy protection then maybe use voblanker to clean it up?

Pack header not found is usually a symptom of having DVD43 running.  Turn it off.

And there is clearly no need to decrypt.

PS.  Pls post a full log next time.

Regards

I'm trying to figure out VobBlanker now but it doesn't seem to want to open the VOB either!Originally Posted by blutachPack header not found is usually a symptom of having DVD43 running.  Turn it off.Pardon my ignorance but what is DVD43 and how do I turn it off?Originally Posted by blutachthere is clearly no need to decrypt.I'm decrypting because I want to use separate streams in DVDLab Pro and demuxing in DLP is not working either.Originally Posted by blutach[color=bluePls post a full log next time.[/color]

Hi!

Have you now tried playing this new (apparently successful) rip from your hard drive - using PowerDVD to quot;playas DVDquot; (NOT simply play individual .VOBs)?

No, the rip was not successful. It rips to a certain point and then stops. It always rips 1,552,918KB of video and 87,590KB of audio. EXACTLY  the same every time. And I've tried ripping from the DVD repeatedly; also tried copying directly to the Hard Drive and ripping from there: same result!

This is very baffling. I'm not even that concerned with the video anymore but it's just become a challenge to figure out why it doesn't work.

I recorded it from a PBS program and just noticed that it doesn't say anything about taping rights that the other programs I've recorded mentioned. Could there be an anti-recording protection of some kind on PBS programs?

Anything is possible - but I doubt it would allow for the first 46 minutes to be recorded before it kicked in. Instead of using DVD Decrypter in quot;Stream Processingquot; mode, try using quot;Filequot; mode and select quot; All filesquot; (You can always do the stream processing later, using SmartRipper on the hard drive files).

BTW, you haven't created a multisession disk (on your tabletop recorder), have you?

**EDIT** Since you don't know what quot;DVD43quot; is, it's quite unlikely that you've downloaded, installed, and activated it on your system...

I tried quot;Filequot; mode and end up with the same problem. Below is the log from this effort. Although I don't know what a Pack Header is I do notice that the error message starts at exactly the same Sector number as it did when I attempted the quot;Stream Processingquot;. Does that mean anything?

Have you tried simply copying the data to your hard drive to directly edit the .VOB files?  As mentioned earlier, the DVD won't be encrypted, so there's no need to decrypt it.

Yes, I have tried that. No joy!

It plays fine in the Recorder

Are you CERTAIN it plays all the way from start to finish?

I'd ask you again, you haven't created a multisession disk (on your tabletop recorder), have you?

Yes, it plays all the way through on any of my standalone players as well as the recorder I used to record it.

No, I did not create a mulitsession disk.

Right now, I'm playing it on a standalone player hooked up to the recorder to make another copy of it that way and then I'll try that new copy in the computer to see if it works. That way, hopefully, I'll know if it is a problem with the original disk. I'll report my findings later tonight.

Well, it gets wierder amp; wierder. I copied the disk by playing it in a standalone player which I connected to the same recorder I used in the first place. The new disk still won't play on my computer. I don't understand this at all since every other disk I've recorded has worked flawlessly on the computer.

However, DVD Decrypter was able to rip the video to separate streams from this new disk and so I'm finally able to accomplish what I set out to do. If anyone can explain the reasons for this I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks to all who tried to help.

First of all, congratulations on your success!

It's sounding more and more like a hardware problem. You might want to check to make sure your PC's DVD reader/burner is still capable of reading previously recorded DVDs.

You might also want to run a DVD/CD cleaning disc on your PC's DVD reader/burner. Maxell makes one that sells for approximately $10US...

Yes, I'm concerned that it may be a hardware problem, too. But if it is I'm quite sure it's not the burner. I have two of them and they both do the same thing. They both play prerecorded discs and also play other discs I've recorded both on the DVD recorder and on the computer. This is just too wierd!
