New to DVD Rebuilder something, recently, indicate, received

Okay, I must be something very obvious, but I can't figure it out.  I recently installed Rebuilder v0.97 and when trying to quot;rebuildquot; my first DVD, I received a

quot;Run-time error '52':
Bad file name or numberquot;

I have attached the screen shots, pre-error and when I push the Backup Button.  

What am I missing?

That would normally indicate that one of the paths is invalid.   But you are the third person to report this... so it makes me think there may be some other set of circumstances that can cause this to happen.

I also am get an runtime error...After backing up Ice Harvest it go 60% thru and gave me an runtime error 53...this has never happen before...

Runtime error 53 means that a file that should be there is now gone.  It usually occurs when you accidentally delete it.

I partioned my disk and named my movie drive, drive quot;X:quot;.  That way I knew it was my movie drive  .

Just an FYI, the paths you see are correct.  I even changed to a more normal quot;C:quot; path drive and got the same result.

FYI: forum rule 9 prohibits special characters in a thread title to draw attention.

Can you provide some specifics on this?  I've been trying for days and can't repeat this error...

Does it do it on more than one disc?
What disc are you trying to encode?
Does it happen immediately upon pushing the quot;Backupquot; button, or later?

I think this thread is cursed.  I never had this error until I read this thread.  The runtime error happens at various times during the backup procedure.  But I have narrowed it down to what was causing the problem. A few days back I upgraded my virus scanner from Kaspersky v5.? to 6.0.0.299.  (by the way I don't recommend upgrading to this, nothing but problems with this new version).  Anyways to fix this problem I have to disable quot;Enable File Anti-Virusquot; in the settings menu.  This has solved my problem.

For God's sake... these virus scanners and anti-SPAM tools are out of control.  Isn't it enough that they slow your computer down to a crawl?  Now they are preventing access at the file level?    Maybe they should just lock out all software completely?   It's the only way to make sure it is safe.  That way the computer could be used as a paper weight while we go back to pencils -- of course somebody would try to sell us quot;virus protectionquot; for that as well....

i know norton has an option to exclude directories from real time scan and regular scans. i assume the other anti virus software support that as well.

Well, I'm not trying to be a party pooper here, but I thought I would give the above suggestions a try - and still no luck.  I even went into quot;msconfig.sysquot; and disabled everything at startup and still no luck.

BTW, jdobbs, I have tried using it on multiple different disks, using multiple different directories on multiple different drives.  I do tend to think that with other peoples successes, it has to be something that is loaded that is giving me my problem.  My machine is basically a fairly new XP Home clean re-install.  I have all the current updates.

Could it possiblly be a conflict with one or another other quot;DVD Rebuilderquot; type software that I am currently using?  The essence of obtaining a better overall duplication is my ultimate goal and I would really like to see this software work - on my computer.

Additionally, the problem occurs as soon as I hit the quot;Backup DVDquot; button.

not wanting to dredge up an old thread but i also received a quot;run-time error '52': bad file name or numberquot; the other day.

disc is boogie nights R4.

same settings i have used for other discs which do not error. not running any real-time virus software.let me know if you need the .logs etc etc

What version jel?  I know it's a long shot since you say it's working for other disks, but there was a recent fix for runtime 52 on networked /non C:\ drives or something.

sorry for not stating beforehand, but it was using v.1.10.07 (zipped update extracted into prgram installation folder).

also the error only occurs upon rebuild stage (in 3 click mode) if that makes a difference?

also destination/work folder are on seperate hard drive to o/s but in the same pc (not networked) - also i have not had this error on any other dvd-rb projects ...

for the record i have  a hunch that this is simply a problematic dvd - numen4u also failed on re-authoring the menu for this title ...

What did you rip it with? Any pre-processing? Sounds like not everything referenced in the IFO's, made it properly to your source folder.

straight iso rip with dvddec.
no pre-processing.
to date i have not seen any type of advanced copy protection on any discs released here in south oz, and this disc is more than a few years old ...
i will try a few more things this weekend, and see if i can find any anomolies.

jel Try ripping it with DVD shrink ( Without Compression )  sometimes that helps me at times .

yes, well ... seems this dvd has been authored badly (whether intentional or not, i have no idea)

firstly, i decided to try James35's suggestion of using dvd shrink with no compression. dvd rb still had issues with the processed disc, producing this error in the encoding phase:CCE Error
The frame size is expected to be 710 x 576, while the size of this file is 352 x 576.

while extracting stills for VTS_03.

so i decided to try manually reauthoring the disc.

VTS_03 = main movie
following the dif4u demux step, i noticed that the allocated bitrate for the movie/extras was very low, so i took a look at the audio streams. as demuxed there are 4 audio files for VTS_03:

Audio_1=0x80 448kbs 6ch AC3 478 MB - soundtrack
Audio_2=0x81  341 MB - removed - 2ch soundtrack
Audio_3=0x82 384kbs 2ch AC3 410 MB  - directors commentary
Audio_4=0xC3 384kbs 2ch MPA 87 MB - removed as it was blank and not referenced

i had issues playing the audio_3 stream in any media player, and its size seemed unusual, so i ran it through delaycut.exe with 'fix CRC errors' selected. the resultant file played back perfectly and went from 410 MB in size, to 40.9 MB ....

anyways, so not sure if this was the cause of the problem with dvd-rb but the back-up ran flawlessly after that.
